There are two islands in the middle of the Bering‌ and Chukchi seas, separating the United States and Russia. 

These islands were identified on 16 August 1728 by the Danish-Russian sailor Witus Bering. They were named after the Greek god Diomede. 

Big Diomed named the largest island in the area. He named the small island Little Diomede. However, the distance between the two islands is only four kilometers. The time difference is only 21 hours 

At a distance of four kilometers it actually doesn’t make much difference. But, in the case of these islands somehow .. if one of these is at the beginning of the time zone .. the other is at the end. 

The two islands are separated by an international date line. This means that the date on the Little Diome will change 21 hours after the date on the Big Diome. 

That is why Big Diomede is called Tomorrow Island (Tomorrow's Island). Little Diomede is called Esterday (Yesterday's Island).
